Onra is a French beatmaker signed to Fool’s Gold (the A-Trak-run label that brought you Danny Brown’s XXX and Action Bronson & Party Supplies’ Blue Chips), who applies hip hop’s cut & paste production techniques to ’80s-inspired synth-funk and electro-boogie. Definitely one to watch, he has a new five-track EP – Deep In The Night – out June 12; “L.O.V.E.” (below) is taken from that disc, which also includes guest vocals from Slum Village’s T3 on the track “After Hours”.

About foamhands
My name is Michael Dix. I also write for The Quietus, and have written in the past for Resident Advisor and Onethirtybpm. Music has been a huge part of my life for over twenty years, and I love everything from classic rock and indie pop to hip hop and techno, from Afrobeat and jazz to Krautrock and metal. I have noticed that my tastes tend to reflect certain websites, but I like what I like, not what anyone else tells me I should. Hopefully you’ll like some of it too, and if you do, please bookmark the site as I try to post something most days, or follow me on Twitter (@FoamHandsBlog) to receive notifications of new posts (and the occasional random brain-fart). And please share links wherever you can: word of mouth is everything!
