Supersonic 2011

Supersonic Festival 2011 Preview Podcast 1

Since its inception in 2003, Birmingham’s annual Supersonic weekend has become one of the most exciting fixtures of the UK festival scene. Starting off as a fairly low-key, mainly electronic and industrial affair (first year highlights included Coil and LCD Soundsystem), it has grown to include punk, metal, Krautrock, noise and avant-jazz (more recently the likes of  Swans, Harvey Milk, Merzbow, Battles and Julian Cope) as well as some pretty impressive rare appearances from legendary bands like Goblin and Harmonia. This year’s event, to be held at the Custard Factory from 21st to 23rd October, is set to feature – among others – Zombi, Wolves In The Throne Room, Bardo Pond, Eternal Tapestry, White Hills, Skull Defekts, a.P.A.t.T., Current 93, Electric Wizard, Cut Hands, Nathan Bell (ex-Lungfish), Part Chimp, Lucky Dragons, Alexander Tucker, Fire!, Zu, Teeth Of The Sea, Circle and Tony Conrad. Check back here soon for more in-depth looks at some of those artists, but for now take a listen to a specially created preview podcast here:

About foamhands

My name is Michael Dix; I'm a decade or so past being down with the kids, but to me new music never gets old. Apparently I like music that sounds like faulty kitchen appliances and ritual slaughter; really I just like what I like, whether that happens to be indie, pop, punk, hip hop, metal, electronica, Afrobeat or jazz. Follow me on Twitter @FoamHandsBlog to receive notifications of new posts and the occasional random brain-fart, and please share links wherever you can. Enjoy!
