Planningtorock : Patriarchy Over And Out

You can keep your Florence + The Machines and Lady Gagas; there’s only one lady doing something genuinely interesting with the legacies of great female experimental pop icons like Grace Jones and Kate Bush, and that’s Janine Rostron, AKA Planningtorock. Following the release of her awe-inspiring album W last year, the Lancashire lass has (with some assistance from DFA Records) set up her own label, HumanLevel, and its inaugural offering is a brand new PTR song: “Patriarchy Over And Out” is -typically – as engaging as it is weird, and comes backed with a slightly more danceable remix from Blattgold, as well as an equally weird extended jam from Berlin-based electronic artist rRoxymore.

About foamhands

My name is Michael Dix; I'm a decade or so past being down with the kids, but to me new music never gets old. Apparently I like music that sounds like faulty kitchen appliances and ritual slaughter; really I just like what I like, whether that happens to be indie, pop, punk, hip hop, metal, electronica, Afrobeat or jazz. Follow me on Twitter @FoamHandsBlog to receive notifications of new posts and the occasional random brain-fart, and please share links wherever you can. Enjoy!
