Delicate Steve : Positive Force

Positive Force cover art

New Jersey’s “Delicate” Steve Marion is a 25 year-old multi-instrumentalist and guitar virtuoso with ties to Yeasayer, Fang Island and Dirty Projectors. He’s signed to Luaka Bop, the label run by former Talking Heads frontman David Byrne. His second album of thrillingly complex, sugary (mainly) instrumental prog-pop – Positive Force – has just been released. If you’ve ever wondered what kind of psychedelic soul symphonies Stevie Wonder and Yes would have made if their ’70s prime selves had met and jammed until a portal opened in the studio and allowed them access to 2012’s instruments and production techniques, this is your answer: listen below.

About foamhands

My name is Michael Dix; I'm a decade or so past being down with the kids, but to me new music never gets old. Apparently I like music that sounds like faulty kitchen appliances and ritual slaughter; really I just like what I like, whether that happens to be indie, pop, punk, hip hop, metal, electronica, Afrobeat or jazz. Follow me on Twitter @FoamHandsBlog to receive notifications of new posts and the occasional random brain-fart, and please share links wherever you can. Enjoy!
