Converge : Aimless Arrow

On October 9 Salem hardcore heroes Converge will release their eighth album All We Love We Leave Behind via Epitaph Records. Recorded by the band with no samples, triggers or auto-tune and produced by guitarist Kurt Ballou, it’s being billed as a back-to-basics affair; however, where the group once described as “this generation’s Black Flag” are concerned, there is no such thing as basic. First single “Aimless Arrow” packs more razor-sharp left-turns into two and a half minutes than many punk bands manage in an entire career; it also comes with a nightmarish, Max Moore-directed video, below.

N.B. American readers – Converge are touring the States next month; support comes from Torche and Kvelertak, who are both worth the price of admission alone.

My name is Michael Dix; I'm a decade or so past being down with the kids, but to me new music never gets old. Apparently I like music that sounds like faulty kitchen appliances and ritual slaughter; really I just like what I like, whether that happens to be indie, pop, punk, hip hop, metal, electronica, Afrobeat or jazz.
