Holy Ghost : It Gets Dark

Track artwork

Our favourite label DFA keep on churning out the hits. New York duo Holy Ghost! produced one of the imprint’s strongest full-length offerings to date with their eponymous 2010 debut, and this new single – which a few lucky people picked up on super-limited one-sided 12″ at the Williamsburg Brooklyn Flea a couple of weeks back – gives a tantalising glimpse of what their follow-up might have to offer. Like their last single – a cover of Ministry’s “I Wanted To Tell Her” – the fittingly-titled “It Gets Dark” puts a slightly moody spin on the pair’s bouyant, rhythmic electro, without losing any of the sugar-rush sparkle that characterised their earlier material; listen below.

About foamhands

My name is Michael Dix; I'm a decade or so past being down with the kids, but to me new music never gets old. Apparently I like music that sounds like faulty kitchen appliances and ritual slaughter; really I just like what I like, whether that happens to be indie, pop, punk, hip hop, metal, electronica, Afrobeat or jazz. Follow me on Twitter @FoamHandsBlog to receive notifications of new posts and the occasional random brain-fart, and please share links wherever you can. Enjoy!
