Pat Jordache : Steps # Damaged Goods

Montreal’s Pat Jordache used to be in a band – Sister Suvi – with Tune-Yards’ Merril Garbus, and last year released a mostly-overlooked solo LP, Future Songs, that drew largely from the cold, arty clank of post-punk gloom-merchants like Joy Division. He’s currently prepping a follow-up for Constellation Records and has just unveiled the first taster track, which just happens to be one of the most instantly gratifying songs of the year; “Steps (DAMAGED GOODS)” (below) suggests a more upbeat mood, combining a wonky, Talking Heads groove with a squawking James Chance-esque sax solo.

About foamhands

My name is Michael Dix; I'm a decade or so past being down with the kids, but to me new music never gets old. Apparently I like music that sounds like faulty kitchen appliances and ritual slaughter; really I just like what I like, whether that happens to be indie, pop, punk, hip hop, metal, electronica, Afrobeat or jazz. Follow me on Twitter @FoamHandsBlog to receive notifications of new posts and the occasional random brain-fart, and please share links wherever you can. Enjoy!
