Larry Gus : Silent Congas

@playlist artwork

Hot on the heels of a stunning mix for Construct, Greek-born, Milan-based producer Panagiotis Melidis – better known as DFA Records’ latest signing Larry Gus – has just released Silent Congas, a thirty-minute crate-digging fantasy voyage that takes a load of old prog-rock, psych, jazz and folk samples and weaves them into a thrilling Avalanches-esque collage of hip hop and disco rhythms. Apart from the fact that they’re clearly awesome dudes, you have to wonder why the folks at DFA would give away an album this good for free, but best not to look a gift horse in the mouth; you can download it here now, absolutely gratis, or listen below.

About foamhands

My name is Michael Dix; I'm a decade or so past being down with the kids, but to me new music never gets old. Apparently I like music that sounds like faulty kitchen appliances and ritual slaughter; really I just like what I like, whether that happens to be indie, pop, punk, hip hop, metal, electronica, Afrobeat or jazz. Follow me on Twitter @FoamHandsBlog to receive notifications of new posts and the occasional random brain-fart, and please share links wherever you can. Enjoy!
