Darkthrone : Leave No Cross Unturned

Track artwork

Reminding us once again why the Scandinavians and heavy metal go hand-in-hand, Norwegian legends Darkthrone have just unleashed a ferocious preview of their first full-length since 2010’s Circle The Wagons, and it’s a beast. The seven-minute “Leave No Cross Unturned” (EDIT: it’s just been revealed that the below version is merely an edit of the FOURTEEN MINUTE album version!!) finds the duo of Fenriz and Nocturno Culto ripping frantically through the genre’s various back-pages – thrash, speed and black metal as well as punk and classic rock – as if their personal time-portal back to 1985 was about to close for good; the fact that the album – The Underground Resistance, out February 25 on Peaceville Records – contains only six tracks suggests that it might be packed with such epics. Get those devil horns ready, and listen below.

About foamhands

My name is Michael Dix; I'm a decade or so past being down with the kids, but to me new music never gets old. Apparently I like music that sounds like faulty kitchen appliances and ritual slaughter; really I just like what I like, whether that happens to be indie, pop, punk, hip hop, metal, electronica, Afrobeat or jazz. Follow me on Twitter @FoamHandsBlog to receive notifications of new posts and the occasional random brain-fart, and please share links wherever you can. Enjoy!
