Blood Diamonds ft. Dominic Lord : Barcode

Track artwork

Vancouver-based videogame designer Mike Tucker – AKA Blood Diamonds – is part of a loose, like-minded collective of musicians and producers (among them Grimes, Doldrums, Blue Hawaii and DIANA) residing in Canada whose love of experimental electronica, ’90s R&B and full-on pop has resulted in some of the most thrilling and innovative music of the past few years. Following last year’s (one-off?) Grimes-featuring 4AD single “Phone Sex“, Tucker has collaborated with Harlem rapper Dominic Lord on a track for Skrillex’s OWSLA label; “Barcode” is a heavy, multifaceted club banger that ticks all the right boxes and – with such high-profile backing – one that might just see Tucker and Lord thrown into the mainstream spotlight. It’s out February 26, but you can listen below.

About foamhands

My name is Michael Dix; I'm a decade or so past being down with the kids, but to me new music never gets old. Apparently I like music that sounds like faulty kitchen appliances and ritual slaughter; really I just like what I like, whether that happens to be indie, pop, punk, hip hop, metal, electronica, Afrobeat or jazz. Follow me on Twitter @FoamHandsBlog to receive notifications of new posts and the occasional random brain-fart, and please share links wherever you can. Enjoy!
