Rhye : The Fall # Maurice Fulton Alt Mix

Taking us into the weekend is a post dedicated to those who’ll be out throwing shapes on a dancefloor somewhere tonight: here’s a sweaty, striding remix of one of last year’s best singles – Rhye‘s “The Fall” – by Sheffield-based electro producer Maurice Fulton, who takes the LA duo’s seductive, neo-soul original and gives it a ’70s disco funk makeover. With shuffling congas, springy synths and a huge, grinding bass line replacing stately lounge jazz piano, all that remains is vocalist Mike Milosh’s “Make love to me” refrain, spun out endlessly until it becomes less of a come-on and more of a command. The Fall EP is out now via Innovative Leisure/ Seven Four/ Polydor; listen to Fulton’s rework below.

My name is Michael Dix; I'm a decade or so past being down with the kids, but to me new music never gets old. Apparently I like music that sounds like faulty kitchen appliances and ritual slaughter; really I just like what I like, whether that happens to be indie, pop, punk, hip hop, metal, electronica, Afrobeat or jazz.
