Greedhead double : Le1f and Antwon

Admittedly we’re only six weeks in, but ex-Das Racist rapper HeemsGreedhead label is having a pretty good 2013. A couple of weeks back Le1f – the MC responsible for one of last year’s best singles (“Wut“) – released his latest mixtape Fly Zone, boasting avant-electro production from up-and-comers like Neuport, Shy Kid, Drippin, Souldrop, Helix and the brilliantly named DJ Blood Everywhere, and guest spots from Spank Rock, Haleek Maul and Kitty (Pryde). Kudos, especially, for the Eminem-baiting couplet “I am whatever you say I am/ Stop worrying about how gay I am“; listen to the whole set below.

Keeping the momentum going, the label have just unveiled their first collaboration with Oakland rapper Antwon. In Dark Denim follows last year’s End Of Earth and features 30 more minutes of endearingly zoned-out Bay Area weirdness; listen here, download for free here and watch the video for the Cities Aviv-produced closing track  “Still Guarded” – featuring some surreal twists on the stereotypical hip hop clip cliche of scantily-clad women – below.

About foamhands

My name is Michael Dix; I'm a decade or so past being down with the kids, but to me new music never gets old. Apparently I like music that sounds like faulty kitchen appliances and ritual slaughter; really I just like what I like, whether that happens to be indie, pop, punk, hip hop, metal, electronica, Afrobeat or jazz. Follow me on Twitter @FoamHandsBlog to receive notifications of new posts and the occasional random brain-fart, and please share links wherever you can. Enjoy!
