Lightning Dust : Diamond

As far as musicians with the word “lightning” in their name go, Lightning Dust are right up there with Lightning Bolt and Lightning Hopkins among the best of them, so the news that they have a new record on the way is something to be pleased about. First taster “Diamond” seems to indicate that Fantasy – out June 28 via Jagjaguwar – might be a more mellow affair than 2009’s Infinite Light, whose combination of witchy folk and Suicide-influenced electronic dirges made for a hypnotically haunting listen; here the Vancouver duo (Black Mountain’s Amber Webber and Josh Wells) try their hand at something lighter, referencing Tusk-era Fleetwood Mac and early Eno on a gorgeous slow-motion ode to lost love.

About foamhands

My name is Michael Dix; I'm a decade or so past being down with the kids, but to me new music never gets old. Apparently I like music that sounds like faulty kitchen appliances and ritual slaughter; really I just like what I like, whether that happens to be indie, pop, punk, hip hop, metal, electronica, Afrobeat or jazz. Follow me on Twitter @FoamHandsBlog to receive notifications of new posts and the occasional random brain-fart, and please share links wherever you can. Enjoy!
