Okay, get ready for a huge exclusive: on October 28 Canadian indie-rock titans Arcade Fire will release… Just kidding, of course; if you like music – which you do, obviously – you already know about the band’s new album, Reflektor, out in seven weeks via Merge. You probably know that it was produced by LCD Soundsystem main man James Murphy, and you may even have heard that it will be a 13-track double album with a number of songs stretching out past the seven minute mark. I’m guessing by now you’ll also be familiar with the title track, which was leaked at the weekend via the Bandcamp page of a “group” named “The Reflektors”, and its accompanying videos, one an interactive affair and the other (below) directed by Anton Corbijn; so what’s left to say? Not a lot, except: DAVID BOWIE. Taking its cue from The Suburbs highlight “Sprawl II (Mountains Beyond Mountains)”, it’s a massive, danceable New Wave non-anthem with a distinct DFA vibe and – yes – backing vocals from the Thin White Duke himself; check it out below.
