Track of the day: Tessela : Nancy’s Pantry

Tessela - Nancy's Pantry

Brit producer Tessela follows up one of the year’s best dance tracks, “Hackney Parrot“, on October 7 with new R&S single “Nancy’s Pantry”. Like that earlier release, it pays loving tribute to the particularly fertile period in UK electronic music history in the late ’90s when hardcore rave started morphing into drum & bass, with familiar-sounding breaks twisted into new, exciting shapes. Its stop-start rhythms are aimed squarely at the dancefloor, but the queasy synth tones that arrive midway through also add atmospheric heft; listen below.

About foamhands

My name is Michael Dix; I'm a decade or so past being down with the kids, but to me new music never gets old. Apparently I like music that sounds like faulty kitchen appliances and ritual slaughter; really I just like what I like, whether that happens to be indie, pop, punk, hip hop, metal, electronica, Afrobeat or jazz. Follow me on Twitter @FoamHandsBlog to receive notifications of new posts and the occasional random brain-fart, and please share links wherever you can. Enjoy!
