Young Guv: Ripe 4 Luv

From the press release:
Young Guv is none other than Ben Cook, who plays guitar for Canadian punks Fucked Up. Ben has a fascinating CV; he has ghostwritten for the likes of Taylor Swift and Kelly Clarkson, was also a child actor (starring alongside a very fresh-faced Ryan Gosling in The Road to Avonlea and kids classic Goosebumps), played in the influential Canadian hardcore band, No Warning and runs his own record label, Bad Actors. Despite thrashing his guitar around most of the time, under his Young Guv moniker, he explores his more reflective side with a dose of pop awesomeness in the vein of Destroyer, blending Prince with Big Star and Cheap Trick… fantastic stuff but combined with poignant lyrics and sometimes harsh subject matter – the lead track (the 7-minute epic “Wrong Crowd”) is written from the perspective of a man wrongly accused of robbery writing his wife from prison.”
Ripe 4 Luv is out now on Slumberland Records; check out “The Wrong Crowd” below.

About foamhands

My name is Michael Dix; I'm a decade or so past being down with the kids, but to me new music never gets old. Apparently I like music that sounds like faulty kitchen appliances and ritual slaughter; really I just like what I like, whether that happens to be indie, pop, punk, hip hop, metal, electronica, Afrobeat or jazz. Follow me on Twitter @FoamHandsBlog to receive notifications of new posts and the occasional random brain-fart, and please share links wherever you can. Enjoy!
